| Ramnavmi celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Apr 1: The nine-day Navratra festival concluded here in Poonch District with religious fervor and gaiety, as hundreds of devotees from all walks of life thronged the Poonch river to immerse the holy 'Saakh' (sprouted wheat). Over 3 thousands devotees participated in the religious procession of Lord Rama here which started from Gita Bhawan Poonch and passed through the main bazaar and reached Lord Rama Ram Temple at Khakha Nawan.
After prayers of idols, the procession culminated at Gita Bhawan, where aarti was performed. Ram Navami marks the culmination of Chaitra Navratri, the nine days when Ram and Durga are worshipped. It is also the day when Rama was born. Highlight of this year's Shobha Yatra was various tableaus on the lord Rama's birthplace and his life. People from all faiths participated in the religious procession and prayed for peace and prosperity of India. Strict security arrangements were made by the District Administration |
