| DGP sanctions Rs 4.50 lakh for Wushu Mats | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 1: Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda has sanctioned Rupees 4.50 lakh in favour of Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir for purchase of mats to give fillip to this medal winning sports discipline in nooks and corners of the state. This was disclosed by Hemant Kumar Lohia, IGP Traffic, who also happens to be the President of Wushu Association of J&K, here today. " Feeling satisfaction over the performance of Jammu and Kashmir players at the National scene, especially in the recently concluded senior and sub junior wushu championships, the Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda sanctioned Rupees 4.50 lakhs for purchase of wushu mats to help budding players hone their skill," Lohia said. Lohia further said that wushu is a priority game in India and is spreading like a wild fire. It is pertinent to mention here that J&K hosted the 20th Senior and 11th Sub Junior Wushu Championships which successfully concluded at MA Stadium a few days back. J&K fetched 7 medals including 2 gold. Wushu has also brought laurels to the state by winning 15 medals in the 57th National School Games, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Wushu Association in the month of December, 2011. |
