PDP set an example of good governance : Mufti | | | EARLY TIMES report Jammu, Apr 1: Patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that PDP led regime had set an example of good governance in the State by providing a corruption free and transparent system to the people. Addressing a public meeting at Karan Bagh area, Sayeed said that PDP led regime had brought transparency and accountability in the governance and justice was given to all the sections of the society. He said that during PDP-Congress regime more than 70,000 Rehbar-e-Talim (ReT) teachers were appointed. Similarly more than 40000 Anganwari workers were also appointed but not even a single case of favourtism and nepotism was highlighted. "We institutionalized the recruitment process to ensure that only deserving and meritorious candidate should be recruited", he said. He reminded the gathering that PDP during its tenure had fulfilled the promises made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in 2002 assembly elections. "Although we had only 16 members yet we had changed socio-economic scene of the state besides creating a sense of security among the common masses", he said and added biggest achievement of PDP was that it had earned credibility of the people through its conviction and commitment. "Unlike National Conference, PDP leadership has never compromised with its principles for the power", he asserted and reminded the gathering PDP had entered into an power sharing alliance with Congress in the year 2002 only after formulation of Common Minimum Programme (CMP)- an agenda to run the coalition. "Attaining power is not agenda of the party", he said. Reiterating resolve of his party to restore sustainable peace in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that PDP was committed to solve problems of all regions and sub-regions of the state. "Policies and programmes of PDP are formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society", he said and asserted that party would work vigorously to implement its policy of peace and reconciliation in the state. PDP patron said that it was his desire to make Jammu and Kashmir an Island of peace. "I was comfortable in the Congress but we formed PDP with an aim of restoring lasting peace in this region", he said and sought support of every section of the society to fulfill this dream. He said that PDP is not merely a political party but a movement to change the system. He said that biggest achievement of PDP is that this party has earned credibility of the people in short span of time. Mufti assured that gathering that his party would vociferously take up the issue of refugees who crossed over to this part of the State from across the LoC during the partition. "It is very unfortunate that successive regimes have not done any thing to solve problems of these refugees", he said. Sardar Rangil Singh, Trilok Singh Bajwa, Thakur Balbir Singh, Surjeet Kour, Falail Singh, R K Bali, Mohinder Singh Raina, Narinder Singh Raina, Govind Singh Micky, Daljeet Singh Dicky, Amreek Singh Reen, Billowaria, Hardeep Singh Sudan, Sadhu Singh, Abjit Singh, Darvinder Singh, Sukhvinder Singh and others also addressed the meeting. |
