137 rightful claimants denied due, harassed by govt | For Azad's information: Roshni scheme has been lost in darkness | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 1: Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad seems to be blissfully unaware of the total fiasco of Roshni scheme which he boasted about in terms of having provided relief to the people besides collection of huge revenue. The latter part of the story is true but it would be in the fitness of the things for the former Chief Minister to know about its total failure in serving the interests of people under this scheme who are being victimized despite having paid through nose. If Azad is really unaware, it is for his information that there are at least 137 people in the list of non beneficiaries who after having been made to run from pillar to post have been forced finally to knock the doors of judiciary for justice which eluded during Azad's tenure as Chief minister and even now when Congress has completed another tenure of three years this time in coalition with National Conference. Azad must know people are being harassed for minutest details in the documents and made to wait for years for lack of unwarranted proof and papers. Roshni scheme, much hyped during his tenure has been lost in the darkness of bureaucratic and political hassles, fact former CM must acknowledge the same way he took pride in saying that government has collected huge revenue from it. Poor people who have no access to authorities and even those who are rightfully entitled to the benefits of the scheme have been denied so till date . Despite giving money and completing other necessary formalities, the government, in which Azad's party is equal partner , is not giving possession or propriety rights to many claimants. It is pertinent to mention here that Ghulam Nabi Azad in his speech at rally on the occasion of dedicating Park in Maharaja Hari Singh's name on the banks of Tawi said this park and a museum in Srinagar have been constructed by the money received as fees under the Roshni Act of the State. He also took pride in saying that twenty five lack kanals of the state land has been transferred free under the Act and fees was charged from lease holders to give ownership rights, perhaps oblivious of the fact that the scheme stands stagnated and completely halted. |
