| Gupta ask NC to stop whipping communal passions | | | Jammu | Jan 24 The former Union Minister and a senior BJP leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta as expressed surprise over the cry of the leaders of the National Conference about the alleged disrespect shown by the Pradesh President of the BJP, Ashok Khajuria, to the state flag and said that it was strange that they have come to be immune regarding daily attempts of the separatists and others of the constitutional institutions of India including that of courts, Election commission of India, Army and what not, but it was highly intriguing that these leaders have never raised any objections to the insults being hurled to these respected institutions although they are under oath of that constitution too. Even at that very place where Khajuria and talk about the separate flag for this state, the Hurriyat Conference leader, Syed Ali Shah had open preached secession and attempted to denigrade everything including its forces. National Conference has never objected to such an institution, he added and questioned their sincerity towards the constitution and that of the national flag and made a poser that why they never raised such like objections when the insults are hurled to the national flag of India and why they keep mum when disrespect is showered to the Indian Constitution and other constitutional symbols? Prof. Gupta recalled that the nationalists of the country including those of Jammu and Kashmir have been opposed from the day one having two constitutions and two flags in the same country. By having separate constitute and a separate flag, a wrong Impression is being created that the state of Jammu and Kashmir is something different from other parts of the country and hence, there is genuine opposition to a separate flag and a constitution which are the outcome of separatist tendencies. He impressed upon National Conference leadership that in the interest of the unity and integrity of the country they should give up whipping up communal feelings and realize the ground realities that the people of the country are one and there should be no special and separate symbols which create about the oneness of the country and its people.
