Unveiling of Maharaja statue: 'Cong made it a party function' | BJP, NPP, JSM castigate govt for not inviting all MLAs | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 2: The NC led coalition government today came in for sharp criticism by the Legislators of Jammu for not inviting all the elected representatives in the unveiling ceremony of Maharaja Hari Singh's statue and park. Taking on Congress leadership, the MLAs of Jammu in opposition accused it keeping the things to the confines and making the function a party function. Soon after the House assembled for today's proceedings , the legislators of BJP, JKNPP and JSM got up and in chorus voiced concern for having been ignored in this historic function . "The government is responsible for this…. It should have extended the invitations to all the legislators", they said.BJP MLA Jugal kishore while criticisng the government for this also questioned NC's complete absence from the function. "The government should take notice of this lapse…….if NC leaders too were not invited, they should issue notice to the oragising department JDA…", Jugal Kishore said. JKNPP legislators led by Harsh Dev also raked up the matter in the House and said it was not a Congress function and therefore the government should have taken care of the invitations. " This way the government have only undermined the significance of the function…….the government should have involved all people in it as Maharaja was the ruler of all people…….", he said. Balwant Singh Mankotia of the party castigated the government for having chosen April one as the day to bestow honour to Maharaja Hari Singh by unveiling his statue as it is considered to be day of fools all over. Senior leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta also criticized the government for having used government machinery in the function . |
