All is not well with in Azad camp of Congress!!!! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 2: Is Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad not happy with his camp even with those holding various ministerial portfolios in coalition government? Yes, if one goes by his veiled message to party ministers while addressing a largely attended public gathering at JDA Park here on Sunday. Congress stalwart, Ghulam Nabi Azad was here on Sunday afternoon to dedicate Maharaja Hari Singh Park to the people on Samadhian Road. In an indirect reprimand to the ministers belonging to his group, Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed dissatisfaction over the attitude of ministers focusing only on their respective constituencies. He also conveyed between the lines that if such approach continues it would only ruin the prospects of the party in the next Assembly elections due almost after another two years. Sources in Congress (Azad group) revealed to ET that "Azad's statement/unhappiness came to light following number of party leaders-who lost last Assembly polls- complaining against the ignorant attitude of ministers. The party leaders had conveyed to Ghulam Nabi Azad that most of the ministers do not accept their recommendations in terms of developmental works, following which, the party cadre has been demoralized. And such an attitude would further hamper their chances to win in next election." "When developmental works would not be initiated as per the wishes of party leaders and cadre, how can be expect better results in polls. And it is not just the Assembly polls. We will not be able to yield shining results even in forthcoming election to local bodies," is the strong message conveyed to Azad by the party leaders. While the senior congress leader and deputy chief minister Tara Chand heads Azad group in NC-Congress coalition, Chowdhary Gharu Ram, Suman Lata Bhagat, Kanta Andotra, Chowdhary Hamid etc are among those Azad loyalist who lost the previous Assembly election. "See, it is an open secret that those Ministers who belong to our group (Ghulam Nabi Azad) have never ever visited our areas on party platform. Even if they have made any official visit, they never bothered to convey us. What message they want to give. They are just interested in their own respective constituencies. Such an attitude will only weaken the party," pointed out one of the Azad loyalist on the condition of anonymity. Political observers believe that "the political scenario at least in Jammu region is in favour of Congress. But the way bickering in Congress are coming to fore, it would directly give benefit to BJP to revive and also to PDP to increase its strength at grass root level." "Congress stand no where these days in terms of party activities as compared to BJP, PDP and JKNPP. Even the NC leadership has started organizing party functions eyeing election to local bodies while Congress leadership has yet to kick start the same," pointed out political observers. |
