Omar govt contemplates major overhaul in admin, police | | | ET Report
Srinagar, Apr 2: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is contemplating major changes in the civil and police departments to inject new blood in the administration. The state headed by Omar Abdullah has comes under severe criticism for mis-governance by his friends and foes alike . However, the close confidents Omar have advised the chief minister to make sweeping changes in the state administration to rejuvenate the administration with placing more dynamic officer at vital positions . Chief minister , it is learnt is contemplating a major overhaul in the civil and police administration before annual darbar move to srinagar, summer capital of the state . The sources said axe is likely to fall on various top bureaucrats and police officers. "Some commissioners, directors, SSPs and Deputy Commissioners are likely to be transferred from their present postings," a senior minister in the Omar Abdullah government on anonymity said. He said a list of officers holding the positions for more than three years is being formulated so that cabinet which meets in Jammu during the current week could take a decision regarding their transfer. The reliable sources in the government said that the performance report of various officers is also being obtained so that officers with unsatisfactory work could be removed from the key positions. |
