| Law Department, Physical Education register big wins | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU,Apr 3: The formidable sides of Department of Law and the Department of Physical Education today registered big wins over Department of Library Sciences and Department of Chemistry respectively toenter the next round of ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu on the campus, here today. Earlier,batting first, after winning the toss, Department of Law set a challenging total of 222 runs for the loss of five wickets in given 20 overs, which in reply, Library Sciences could not chase the total and whole side bowled out for139 runs in 19.3 overs. Heemanshu played superb innings unbeaten 59 (off 26 balls, 3x6, 6x4) while Amit Baloria and Lokesh contributed 60 and 56 runs respectively. Anirudh added 17 runs.From, Library Sciences, Parveen Sharma took two wickets while Sher Khan bagged one. Later, Library Sciences could not chase the target and lost all their wickets for 139runs. Parveen remained top scorer with 43-ball 51 runs. Vineet (33), Munish (19) and Pardeep (14) were other main contributors to the total. From Law, Mohit was most successful bowler who bagged three wickets, followed by Azhar and Amit, who shared two each. This match was officiated by Rajiv Sharma and Vijay Dogra as umpires while Sat Paul was scorer. Meanwhile, inanother match of the day, Department of Physical Education trounced Department of Chemistry by a huge margin 152 runs to reach the next round. Batting first, Physical Education made 192 runs for six, courtesy 99 runs innings played by Sunil Sharma. It took Sunil just 54 deliveries to reach the magic figure of99. Chander Kiran (41) and Taqdir Singh (29) were other main scorers. Gurpreet and Yawar Mir took two wickets each from Chemistry. In reply,Department of Chemistry bowled out cheaply for 40 runs in nine overs. Atul wasonly batsman who could score in double figure with 12 runs in his account. From Physical Education, Amit Sharma and Rajinder took three wickets each. |
