CCTV's helping police to bust many crimes, technology proving beneficial

JAMMU, Apr 3: Despite many loopholes, the Close Circuit Televisions (CCTV) cameras installed by traffic police has helped the law enforcement agencies to solve many of the cases related to traffic violations, thefts and chains snatchings.
About two years back,police had decided to install 250 CCTV Cameras in city at different areas to streamline traffic, deal with the traffic violators and controlling the crime in the state at every vital point of the state.
It is pertinent to mention here that the concerned department submitted proposal of installation these CCTV cameras in the state few years ago. These cameras helped in checking the traffic violations and other anti activities are going on. It had also helped in controlling traffic, crime and other related anti social activities.
Sources further said that the similar 16 CCTV cameras have already been installed at different places, now police department has decided to improve traffic problems and tackle anti social activities and stop them with the help of (CCTV) Cameras. Police department solved many cases like robbery, traffic violations with the help of CCTV cameras.
"After happening cases were reported, concerned police to investigate the matter themselves and collected CCTV footage of the spot where the criminals had committed the crime. CCTV enables emergency services to be deployed more effectively and can be used to provide guidance for resources at the scene of incidents. It is essential that the surveillance solutions emergency services depend on are reliable and provide fast access to archive video recordings", he added.
Police sources maintained that there were lot of expectations and hopes in the department that the installation of the CCTV cameras would help in solving cases, but results were not up to the expectations. Because the proposal too delaying day by day.
Senior Superintendent of Police PCR Jammu Vijay Kumar said that CCTV cameras have been installed in Jammu city almost four years now, with in years the department many cases were solved with the help of CCTV cameras.
He further said that the department sent a proposal to the concerned department for more CCTV cameras installed in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this step the police immediately tackle the criminal activities.
