| Civilian injured in Jan.22 at Pattan dies at SKIMS Soura, people stage protests against the killing | | | Srinagar, Jan 24
A civilian injured in a grenade explosion on January 22 at Pattan succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura today following which people staged massive protests resulting in suspension of traffic movement at Pattan. Meanwhile shut down was observed for the second consecutive day in the township today.
According to reports reaching here, following a grenade explosion resulting in injuries to 13 civilians on January 22 at Pattan, of Mohd Sidique Gojri S/O Ab Rahim R/O Gojri Mohalla Pattan, aged 45 years, was shifted to SKIMS Soura in critical condition, but he succumbed to injuries today.
A pall of gloom, according to local KNS Correspondent, descended on the people at Pattan, when body of the deceased was brought to his residential house. The shell shocked people took to streets and staged massive protests during which they burnt tyres and shouted slogans to press hard the Government for conducting an impartial investigation to punish the real culprits.
The protests resulted in traffic blockade on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road till 12.00 noon today following which SHO Pattan Manzoor Ahmed pacified the protestors with an assurance that case has been already registered in this connection and hunt is on to nab the culprits. Meanwhile shops and other commercial establishments remained closed for the second consecutive day today and normal life was crippled in the township.
