Youth Cong leader concerned over depleted condition of Chowgan ground | | | Early Times Report JAMMU , Apr 4 : Former Youth Congress President Kishtwar Advocate Sheikh Nasir Hussain has shows his concern over the depleted condition of the historic "Chowgan" ground located in the heart of Kishtwar town. In a press statement issued by here Sheikh Nasir Hussain said that Chowgan, the beautiful ground in the heart of the town once known as symbol of beauty of Kishtwar, is gradually losing its beauty and attraction due to the negligence of the authorities. He said that the fascinating spot was not only a beautiful place to visit but is also a destination for many morning walkers, sports lovers and a symbol of secularism. He said the ground is being used by both the communities as a place of worship and celebrations and at the same time it is used by Muslims as "Eid gah" and Hindu as Dushehra ground. Besides human being even it was being used for grazing by cattle. While criticizing the agencies entrusted with the job of maintenance and beautification of this historic ground Sheikh Nasir has said that the area of the ground is shrinking and the heaps of garbage and waste are seen everywhere in this beautiful ground. He stressed upon the government and the Tourism minister to take necessary steps for maintenance and beautification of this ground and has also appealed the people of Kishtwar to join hands together to save this historic ground. |
