| Football: Young Hero, Churchill in QFs | | | Jammu, Apr 4 : Young Hero, SSS Lovers and Churchill Brothers today qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing Sainik Colony Society Football Tournament at Sainik Colony ground here. Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals, Young Hero defeated JKPDC Academy 5-4 in sudden death. In the stipulated time, the match ended in a goalless draw.
Meanwhile, in another second round tie, Churchill Brothers outplayed New Bharat Club by five goals to one. Rahul Sharma (7th, 47th), Adnoose Mattoo (15th), Dany Burat (44th) and Ankit (55th) were the scorers from winners Churchill Brothers. From New Bharat, Rajesh Kumar reduced the margin netting the ball in 10th minute of the match. In another pre-quarterfinal of the day, SSS Lovers registered a 3-1 win over Mussa Club to reach last eight stages of quarterfinals. Udhay Singh Jamwal (29th and 45th) played a key role in SSS Lovers win.
Sunil Kumar also scored a goal in the 35th minute. Earlier, Harpreet Singh helped Mussa Club take early lead netting the ball in very third minute. |
