early times report
JAMMU, Apr 4: Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad's recent statement about Chief Minister's term reflects that all is not well with the coalition.
Congress MP, Lal Singh's recent attack on Omar Abdullah indicates that the Congress men are not happy with the functioning of the coalition government. Lal Singh who is l known for his articulations has urged the Congress leader to save the state from being ruined for want of good governance.
The Congress workers feel that the party may not perform well in the local body elections if the policies of the coalition government continue. Congress has a strong hold in Jammu region but the party has failed to live up to the expectations of the people and this may have aserious bearing on the party in the forthcoming elections, said Ashok Kumar a Congress activist from Raipur Damana.
He said that coalition is based on certain principles but the policies pursued by NC led government are damaging the Congress interests in the state and opposition parties will take up these issues during the elections.
He said the J&K Bank recruitment process is an indication in this regard where in recently published list the number of selectees from Jammu region was far less than Valley. Same has been the case in appointment of Information officers in Information Department where Jammu region has been neglected.
Substantiating his point another Congress activist, Ramesh Khullar said that delimitation has been another major issue which the coalition failed to solve. The Jammu region with more area as well as population has less number of Assembly and parliamentary constituencies as well as less number of Municipal Corporation seats in Jammu as compared to Srinagar. This has been a cause of concern to every Cong worker as he is unable to face the electorate on these issues and give reasons that why this disparity exists.
Khullar said that in comparison to present coalition the previous alliance between Congress, PDP and other smaller parties was based on good understanding. "All the decisions at that time were taken for the overall development of all three regions in the state. This is the reason that Congmen want that Party should come out of alliance as NC which has lost its political base in Kashmir where PDP is emerging powerful may try to harm Congress in Jammu with its wrong policies" he added.
He said it is high time for Congress to take a decision as the apprehensions of Ch Lal Singh cannot be ignored.
