Baisakhi Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament | Kashmir Club, Shiva Ji XI script wins to advance | | early times report JAMMU, Apr 5: Kashmir Cricket Club and Shiva Ji XI registered resounding wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing Baisakhi Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Diamond Cricket Club at Boys Higher Secondary School Simbal Camp, near here. Earlier, in the first match, Shiva JI XI drubbed Trikuta Cricket Club by 24 runs in an easy contest. Batting first, Shiva Ji XI scored 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Jyoti was the top scorer with 44 runs, while Rajesh contributed 29 runs to the total. Jimmy also chipped in with 16 runs. For Trikuta Club, Irshad and Charanjit bagged 2 wickets each, while Arun Sharma claimed one. Trikuta, in reply bundled out for 11 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 24 runs. Irshad (32), Dimple (15) and Riyaz (14) were the main contributors. Tarandeep was pick of the bowlers for Shiva Ji XI, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Shashi took 2 and KK one. Tarandeep Singh was adjudged man of the match for taking 3 wickets by conceding just 8 runs in his 3 overs. Meanwhile, in another match played today, Kashmir Cricket Club thrashed Kherian Cricket Club by 8 wickets in a one-sided contest. Winning the toss and batting first, Kherian Club scored 122 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Only two batsmen Sunny (27) and Bishu (26) of Kherian Club showed some resistance against the disciplined bowling of all the Kashmir Club bowlers, who bowled with nagging line and teasing length. Sumesh (17) and Vikas (13) also contributed to the team's total. Right-arm wrist spinner Puneet Wattal was the wrecker-in-chief for Kashmir Cricket Club, taking 3 wickets, while left-arm spinners Kuldip Kumar and Rohit Sharma scalped 2 wickets each and Pankaj claimed one wicket. Kashmir Cricket Club, in reply, chased the required target easily in 15.4 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus scripted a convincing win by 8 wickets. Shahbaz played a gem of an innings of unbeaten 54 runs including 8 delectable boundaries, while Satish contributed quick-fire 29 runs with the help of four boundaries and one six. Zeeshan also contributed well-made 33 runs to the total. For Kherian Club, Sumesh and Rajkumar took one wicket each. Shahbaz of Kashmir Cricket Club was declared man of the match for his fabulous half-century. The matches were officiated by Gurmeet Singh and Kulvir Singh as umpires, while Gurjeet Singh acted as scorer. Gurmeet Singh Micheal is the organizing secretary of the tournament. |
