Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 5 : Hailing the US court's decision of convicting Kashmiri separatist Ghulam Nabi Fai, Panun Kashmir today said all those Indians who had "sent letters of support to the US court for being lenient to Fai, owe an explanation to the country." "All those people, who sent letters of support to the US court for being lenient to Fai, owe an explanation to the country and in particular to the victims of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir," Panun Kashmir president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said at a conference here.
Fai was sentenced to two years in prison by a US court on March 31 for conspiracy to defraud Washington by concealing the transfer of at least USD 3.5 million from Pakistan's ISI to fund his illegal lobbying efforts on Kashmir.Nina Ginsberg, Fai's attorney, had during the trial claimed that the Kashmiri separatist was in contact with Indian leaders and officials; and had received more than 50 letters of support in his favour, which were submitted to the court. American administration needs to be congratulated for going after the masterminds of terrorism in India directly, Chrungoo said pointing toward the bounty declared on Hafiz Saeed, chief of outlawed Pakistan-based Jamaat-ud-Dawa."The recent announcement of bounty on the head of Hafiz Saeed, the brain behind the 26/11 Mumbai attack, shows the renewed consciousness of the US think-tank and administration toward the issue of terrorism," he said.Virender Raina, national spokesperson of the party said the observations of the US court while sentencing Fai has also brought under cloud even the so-called Interlocutor report on Kashmir." These important developments surrounding the issue of terrorism should be an eye-opener for the government of India regarding its policy of engagement with Pakistan," he said. All global terrorists, who are tormenting the civilised world are camping in Pakistan under the "benevolent umbrella of ISI", he said.
Panun Kashmir for last more than twenty years has been continuously creating a national and global consciousness regarding the issues of terrorism and fundamentalism, he said.
