PDP demands compensation for farmers of border areas | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, APR 5: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded adequate compensation for farmers whose land has been acquired by the security agencies in the border areas and whose land has been located beyond the fencing. Addressing a public meeting at Ramgarh area of Vijaypur Assembly segment organised by Inderjeet Singh Slathia, general secretary of PDP Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that farmers in border areas were facing number of problems but authorities have not taken any step to mitigate woes of the border residents. He reminded that gathering that it was all due to the efforts of PDP that peace has been prevailed in the border areas. He said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of the State had convinced both India and Pakistan to announce ceasefire on the border so that residents of border areas can live their lives peacefully. He further reminded the people that during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed a number of programmes were implemented for the socio-economic growth of the people living in rural areas. Pointing towards the hardship being faced by the border residents, Singh demanded that a special employment package should be announced for the border areas.Suresh Sharma, Capt Anil Gour, Hans Raj, Davinder Singh and others also addressed the meeting. |
