Introduce theatre in schools: Balwant Thakur | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 5 : Expressing his serious concern about the overall development of the children, Natrang Director Balwant Thakur strongly advocated the need for introducing theatre as a subject in the schools. Former Secretary of the J&K Cultural Academy and J&K Coordinator of SPICMACAY, Balwant Thakur while addressing the media here today at Natrang Studio Theatre said that it's the high time that children are engaged in this amazing art which has the immense capacity of shaping the personalities and transforming the minds. Thakur said that in whole of the world particularly in the developed nations theatre is being used as the ultimate tool in exploring the immense inner abilities of the children and is regarded as the compulsory activity of the schools. Theatre is not merely 'Nachana Gana', its magical power empowers a person with immense confidence and intellect that he/she can compete any competition on this earth. Unfortunately in Jammu neither the educational institutions nor the parents have come out of the rat race of finding excellence in the report cards. Excellence cannot be found in the report cards, it reflects in the personality statement of an individual which can be developed only through theatre, he added. Thakur said that drama is one of the arts through the practice of which children may grow and mature as superior human beings. Balwant Thakur appealed all the local educational institutions to introduce their students to the amazing world of theatre and in return it will surely not only shapeup and groom their personalities but their minds as well. |
