| Brick Kiln owners form body 'J&K Brick Kiln Manufacturers Asso' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 5: Two associations of two different provinces representing Brick Kiln Industry merged to form a new Association under the name & style "J&K Brick Manufacturers Association" and elected joint action committee. The nominations nominated today for the joint action committee included Jugal Mahajan (Chief Organizer), Zahoor Ahmed Malik (President), Janak Raj Mahajan (Gen. Secretary) and Abdul Aziz Dar (Joint Secretary) Spokesperson of the organization stated the new committee has been formed to look into the grievances and hardships being faced by the Brick Industry. During the meeting the members said prices fixed by the Deputy Commissioners are not realistic and they have not taken care of the abnormal hike in the prices of input materials. "The State Government is imposing a number of local taxes viz. Royality:- This has been increased by 60%, License Renewal Fee increased by 500%, Toll Tax on Coal has been increased by 50% since 2010 and VAT, they said further urging the Authorities to look into the genuine demands at the earliest and save the industry. "In case our demands are not met immediately and required amendments are not made in the Brick Kiln Act, they will be left with no alternative than to go for an indefinite strike, he said. |
