Agencies on toes as Shabir Shah announced calendar of visit to Jammu | | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Apr 5: Intelligence agencies are on their heels following the reports of scheduled visits of moderate separatist Shabir Shah who reportedly has announced his visits to Jammu region particularly the Rajouri that is limping to normalcy after its witnessed turmoil over Togadia issue. High placed sources said the intelligence agencies besides the security agencies in a bid to thwart any kind of untoward incident are on their toes as the instructions from higher rungs of Police officers have been issued to remain in vigil keeping in view a series of press conference to be held by Shabir Shah, a pro democratic separatist leader and president of Democratic Freedom Party in Jammu region that too ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra. Sources said as per intelligence agencies that Shabbir Shah is visiting Jammu region and is expected address a series of press conferences in Jammu and besides addressing public meetings. "As per reports Mr Shah will be visiting Kishtwar from April 5-7, Bhaderwah from April 12-14, Doda from April 19-21, Jammu from April 22- 24, Rajouri from April 26-28 and Poonch from 28-29. Security agencies are looking it critically that recently Rajouri has passed through a turbulent times and even curfew was imposed when two communities remained daggers drawn over the remarks of right wing leader Dr Parveen Togadia in recent past. It needs to mention here that Bhaderwah too has witnessed communal divide in recent past when two communities were looking for an eye for eye when a Bhaderwah College lecturer was alleged for 'blasphemy'. "And all this has put the intelligence and security agencies on high alert, sources said further adding that, "instructions have been passed to Rajouri police to be prepared to face any untoward incident as the district has attained calmness after one month of bitterness between two communities." They added that in a hard and brief note it was urged not to allow the separatist leader to address media conference in Rajouri or Poonch. Sources further said that similar instructions were also given to Jammu police as earlier also Shabbir Ahmad Shah was attacked by activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Shiv Sena in Jammu when he demanded for referendum in Jammu and Kashmir to decide the state's future. |
