Will Omar initiate CBI probe against his father? | Multi crore JKCA scam | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 5: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is again under fire. This time for his father's alleged involvement in the multi-crore Jammu kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) scam. With the demand for a CBI probe gaining momentum, Omar finds himself in a tight spot. Can he concede the demand? The question haunts him and everybody else in the National Conference. Omar’s father, Dr Farooq Abdullah who holds a cabinet berth in the Union Ministry happens to be the president of the JKCA. Dr Farooq Abdullah was also believed to be involved in the corruption case involving Haji Yousuf who allegedly collected money from people on his behalf in lieu of MLC seats. Omar had to announce a one man commission judicial commission headed by Retired Justice Bedi to probe the circumstances that lead to the death of Haji Yousuf. The family members of the deceased out rightly rejected commission and have been demanding CBI probe into matter. A petition has been filed in the High Court in this connection. The relatives are hopeful that court will direct the police to register an FIR. Similar is the case with JKCA scandal where the cricketing body including former Chairman of the association demanded CBI probe against JKCA President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Chairman JKCA Mohammad Aslam Goni for their alleged involvement in fraudulent withdrawl of money from bank accounts of JKCA. |
