5 day state writer’s camp concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 6: Organised by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, the 5 day state writers camp at Mansar concluded today with the commitment from the participating writers to create such writings as would promote regional languages in the state and to bring about cultural cohesion, peace, love and brotherhood in the state which has been the hallmark of the state for ages together and boast of its cultural diversities the proverbial unity in diversity. As many as 30 writers in 10 languages of the state participated and discussed the trends in sister languages in order to enrich the literature. It was a unique occasion which provided an opportunity for an interface with writers of other languages. When contacted the Commissioner/Secy. Tourism and Culture Atal Dulloo said that the Academy would continue to provide such platforms to the writers and artists of the state for promotion of art, culture and languages. He further informed that another camp will be held in Kashmir in the month of June/July. Giving details of the coming events he said that a mega cultural show is being held at Kala Kendra on the occasion of Baisaki. This will be followed by a play on KL Saigal the next day at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. The play will be performed by Pierrot troupe from Mumbai which features film actor Tom Alter, he added saying that an All India Sculptor meet will be held at Kala Kenda and all India Heritage painting camp at Mubark Mandi which is aimed to create awareness about the importance of heritage sites. Tagore theater festival will be held from 23rd April, 2012, he concluded saying much more will follow in the coming months.
