"Way of the Cross" procession taken out on Good Friday

JAMMU, Apr 6 : Different programmes were organized by the Catholic and Protestant churches in connection with celebration of Good Friday today.
A procession was taken out by St. Peter's Catholic Church, Prem Nagar Christian Colony here this afternoon. The procession which started from Chowgan, Residency Road after passing from various areas later culminated at Catholic Church Jogi Gate.
A large number of members of Catholic community participated in ``Way of the Cross'' procession. On the occasion 2000 years back act of Jesus carrying the cross was taken out in remembrance of the Christ who sacrificed his life to redeem the world.
The Jesus laid down his life for the salvation of the world so the day is called as Good Friday.
Both catholic as well as protestants observed the fast during the day in memory of Jesus and they prayed for the betterment of mankind on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Priest Incharge Fr. Jose John threw light on the relevance of Good Friday and Easter which is celebrated after three days of Good Friday in connection with resurrection of Jesus.
He said the Cross is the culmination of the saving deeds of the Christ, such as compassion towards the sick, the hungry, the sinners and the outcasts. By this agonizing death on the cross, Jesus demonstrated to the world that there canot be greater love than this, he added.
