RAJOURI APR 6; Symbolizing a token of tributes to the ‘die hards’ who had laid their lives down for the security and integrity of the nation – the “Shaheedi Sathal' Rajouri is crying for its due care as it remains neglected and in pathetic condition these days.
A mark of patriotism of local soldiers a Shaheedi Sathal was built in the middle of Gujjar Mandi Chowk and was being looked after by army authorities. “But the casual approach of army and administration towards Shaheedi Sathal these days left it not only in shabby condition but also a haven for the stray animals who often are seen wandering in this war memorial,” said one passersby Ajit Kumar.
“Many addicted youths also jump across the fence and sit in this park while puffing their stuff and bask in the sun while some migrant labourers even dare to spread their clothes for drying,” another said further adding, “this not only mocks the supreme martyrdom of the great warriors but also looks odd to the other passers by.
The place also is loosing its sheen due to the hoardings of private companies, political parties and has been reduced to a place for advertisement instead of being developed as a tribute to martyrs from the people of Rajouri.
