Abducted woman recovered, accused held

JAMMU, Apr 7: A middle-aged woman, who was alleged to have been abducted from Sigdi in Chatroo, Kishtwar, in February last, by the village numberdar, was recovered from R S Pura here. Basri (46), wife of Mohammad Shafi Gujjar of Sigdi Balana, was allegedly abducted by Sigdi numberdar Mohammad Amin (48), son of Allah Ditta Gujjar of Barnaie, Sigdi, on February 24 last from the village.
After a complaint was lodged with police by Basri's family members, cops started making searches for the woman and her alleged abductor. Police sources said acting on a tip-off, police today recovered the woman from R S Pura near here. Amin was also arrested, the sources added.
While Basri is mother of six children, two of whom are married, Amin has four children. The woman was later restored to her family. Amin was put behind the bars.
