World health day observed at Kathua | | | Early Times Report kathua, Apr 7: On the eve of World Health Day a seminar on the theme "Save the Girl Child" was organized by Red Cross and Education Department at Government girls higher secondary school Kathua. District Development Commissioner Kathua Zahida Khan who is also Chairperson of Indian Red Cross Society Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion. The students of various government and private schools participated in the seminar and expressed their views. Speaking on the occasion Ms Zahida Parveen khan said its painful fact that female feticide is now deep rooted in our cultural ethos and the most shocking fact is that the innovative and hard high end technologies are brutally killing the girl child. The clinical tests are highly contributing to the rise in genocide of the unborn girl child. She appealed the people to cooperate in eradicating this social evil which is posing serious threat to the sex ratio which is receding at an alarming rate. Prizes were also given to all the participating students. Later DDC flagged off awareness rally from Government Girls Higher Secondary School which culminated at Shahedi Chowk. DDC also visited Vridh Aashram along with Indian Red Cross team where team of doctors comprising orthopedic and physician conducted medical check up of elderly peoples. Fruit and juices were also distributed to the aged people. Similar check up was done at district hospital where team of doctors provided advice to aged people to choose right diet in their daily life. Tehsildar, Kathua, CEO Kathua, CMO Kathua, District Education Planning Officer, staff of various school and a large number of children were also present on the occasion. |
