2nd Simula Budding Cricketers T20 Cricket Tourney

Jammu , Apr 7: Despite sailing on a superb batting display by opening batsman Arif, who sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt, the Junior Cantt Cricket Club failed to prevail over Young Guns XI in the 2nd Simula Budding Cricketers T20 Cricket Tournament, which got underway at MA Stadium, here today.
The tournament in which 8 teams of budding cricketers are taking part is being organized by Simula Software with an objective to explore talent at the grass-root level.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Young Guns Cricket Club scored 144 runs in 17.3 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Rattandeep Sharma was the top scorer with 46 runs including 6 boundaries, while Pushpinder Singh contributed 34 runs with the help 5 boundaries. Both these batsmen played shots with fluidity and grace. Vishnu, Sourav and Kunal took 2 wickets each, while Arif, Suresh and Shantanu claimed one wicket each for Junior Cantt Cricket Club.
In reply, Junior Cantt Club was going great guns before opener Arif fell for a brilliant knock of 56 runs which was followed by a sudden collapse and finally the team managed to score 106 runs in 16.3 overs, thus lost the match by 38 runs. No other batsman could cross the double figure mark. Sannat and Pavit Singh bowled superbly and took 4 and 3 wickets respectively, while Yudhamanyu, Raghav and Shivam claimed one wicket apiece. Rattandeep Sharma of Young Guns Club was declared man of the match for his fabulous batting show.
The match was officiated by Shashi Pal, Rajinder Singh and Naresh.
