Jammu , Apr 7: Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) XI drubbed Idea XI by a huge margin of 101 runs to sail into the next round of the 3rd Rajiv Gandhi Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Young Star Cricket Club at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, JKAP XI rode on a power-packed knock of 29-ball 67 runs including 6 fours and four sixes by Ishaq, scored a mammoth total of 199 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Ashwani also scored quick-fire 41 runs in 30 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 2 fours, while skipper RK Bhat contributed well-made 33 runs including 7 boundaries. For Idea XI, Deepak, Vishal, Sahil and Hartaj claimed one wicket apiece.
While chasing a huge target, Idea XI bundled out for a paltry total of 98 runs as they failed to negotiate the attack of bowling duo of off-spinner Ashwani (6/19) and medium pacer RK Bhat (2/21), thus lost the match by a big margin of 101 runs.
Ashwani, in particular bowled with a nagging line and teasing length. Farooq and Sanjeet also picked one wicket each. Deepak Wali (24) and Sunil (22) were the main contributors for Idea XI. Ashwani of Idea XI was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance.
The match was officiated by Rajinder Singh and Vijay as umpires, while Sohail acted as the scorer, while the tournament is being organized by Young Star Cricket Club under the supervision of Chaman Lal, former Corporator, Ankush Abrol, Rajesh Dhar, Vikram Singh and Shashi Pal, organizing secretary.
