Mehbooba accuses Delhi of patronizing corrupt Omar government | | | Early Times Report jammu, April 7: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has ridiculed the National Conference for accusing her party of raising useless issues in State Assembly. Countering the NC allegations at a press conference here today, Mufti said her party legislators raised the issues of public importance and concern in the two houses of state Legislature like those of Bijli and Pani which are concerning the common man of the state. Holding the coalition responsible for rampant corruption in the state, he said 5000 stone pelters were arrested in the state in 2010 and eight months back government announced amnesty for them and only 402 were chosen for release on pick and choose basis just to promote corruption. Challenging the rationale behind release of selected detenue she said the pick and chose policy should be abandoned and a general amnesty be granted to all. She said producing every detenue be fore a magistrate is a way of corruption. She also criticized the coalition for re-employing the retired persons at the age of 72 years and termed it a way of promoting corruption. ``What is the fun of re-employment of Farooq Ahmed Nazki and Jaleel Ahmed Khan at the age of 72 years and giving Rs 80,000 salary to each officer'', she asked? This government has kept a record of mis-governance and alleged that the corruption and nepotism has been on peak in this rule. She accused it of destroying the credibility of JK Bank and Auqaf. She while highlighting the JKCA scam said the Government is totally misusing JK Bank and the JKCA withdrew the account from PNB to facilitate the pilferage and misuse of funds. Mehbooba also criticized the Delhi of patronizing the Omar Abdullah led Government which is knee-deep involved in corruption. The withdrawal of JKCA account from PNB was done for malpractices only and instead of reprimanding the JKCA BCCA rewarded its one member by nominating him to a key position. The PDP supremo also made a dig at Government for organizing police-public darbars saying no where in country this practice prevails except J&K. The Police is for maintenance of law and order situation. The increasing crime rate in Jammu is that police is involved in other things and the growing politicians and criminals nexus has led to increasing crime in the region. Highlighting the problems of Panches and Sarpanches mehbooba alleged that government failed to empower them till date. The panches and sarpanches feel insecure after attacks on them increased in Kashmir Valley. Moreover what is the fun of holding these elections when neither the block level boards nor the district development boards were constituted till date. She said our Legislator Murtaza Khan was assured by chairman of Upper House that he would be allowed to raise the issue of back door appointments but the role played during the last day by Deputy Chairman when he tried to raise the issue is disappointing, she added. Mehbooba demanded a thorough probe in the corruption linked to Haji Yousf issue and many workers paid crores to party as bribe. She also accused the coalition of raising the issue of AFSPA revocation to turn the peoples attention from Haji Yousf and corruption issue. On the interlocutors recommendations she said they visited the state and studied the situation by talking to cross section of people but the their report and recommendations will be useless unless and until the views and mindset of those who are behind the movement is not known. |
