| Discovered by foreign tourists, 9 water lakes in Pahalgam yet to come on state tourism map | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Said to have been discovered by foreign tourists, nine water lakes in the areas close to the famous tourist destination of Pahalgam were yet to come on the state tourism map. Official sources said out of 12 fresh water lakes in the peripheral areas of Pahalgam, only three figured on the map of the tourist department. The other lakes, discovered by some foreign tourists in the surroundings of the Pahalgam decades ago, were yet to find a place on the tourism map. These included Tulyan Lake, Asthan Marg Lake, Chorch Lake, Sonsar Lake, Katrinag Lake, Harbagwani Lake, Munvarsar Lake, Hoksar Lake and Chandarsar Lake. "The non-seriousness of authorities in bringing these fresh water lakes on tourism map belies the government claims of promotion of tourism in the state," the sources added. Sources, however, said the tourism department planned to bring these lakes on its map this year. All efforts to contact assistant director tourism, pahalgam, Mehboob Ali, proved futile as he did not respond to the repeated phone calls.
