6 ultras infiltrate LoC, army denies | | | early times report POONCH, Apr 8: About six militants were last night said to have infiltrated into Mendhar area of Poonch from across the LoC. The "infiltration" was preceded by heavy firing by own troops. Army, however, refuted the reports of infiltration, saying the troops had resorted to firing to ensure that "no infiltration takes place". Official sources said troops resorted to firing at about 9.45 pm Saturday after sighting some suspicious movement in Phagwari Gali area of Mendhar close to LoC on the PoK side. The firing continued for about 45 minutes, the sources added. To foil any infiltration bid, troops later laid cordons in Dharana, Chajla and Beri Rakh forests and started searches which continued till late this evening.Sources said about six militants infilrated into India from Phagwari Gali area last night when a new army unit was being deployed in the area. Army, however, strongly denied reports of any infiltration. |
