After people protest, 3-member team formed to enquire into man's death due to doctors' alleged negligence | | | early times report JAMMU, Apr 8: After people blocked the road outside GMCH here, alleging a patient's death due to the doctors' alleged negligence, a three-member team was formed to look into the allegations. Mohan Lal, son of Faqir Chand of Panjtirthi, was admitted to the GMCH on March 2 last for the treatment of thyroid. Following his death in the hospital's emergency ward today, the attendants got angry, alleging that he breathed his last due to the doctors' negligence. They later placed the body in the middle of the road outside hospital and blocked it to vehicular traffic amidst raising of slogans. The protesters lifted the body and removed it home after they were informed that GMC's acting principal, Dr Aniece Choudhary had ordered the constitution of a 3-member team to look into the allegations. The protest continued for over an hour. The committee members included Dr Ghanshyam Dev (HoD, Radiology), Dr J P Singh of Medicines and Dr Sandhya Arora of Forensic Medicine. They were asked to submit their report within two weeks. Another committee was constituted to enquire into the allegation against staff nurse Raj Kumari, who was alleged to have refused to give treatment to the patient as prescribed by Dr Sourab, PG (surgery), Unit-VI. On the written complaint of Dr Sourab, the principal asked administrator, Dr Anil K Dhar (assistant professor, medicines), Dr Abdul Ghani (assistant professor, orthopa-edics), Dr Wasiq Rasool (deputy medical superintendent, MCH) and MCH matron Santosh Salathia Jamwal to submit their report within a week's time for further action against the delinquent official. |
