early times report
Srinagar, Apr 9 : All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) today organised a protest demonstration against a local trust for illegal sale of historic Vaital Bhairav temple at Motiyar, Rainawari Srinagar and demanded a CBI probe into the whole affair including other encroachments of temple land in Kashmir.
During the protest Kashmiri Pandits from various areas of Kashmir besides the local Muslims denounced the Trust president for leasing out the temple on attorney and demanded CBI Probe into the whole affair.
Led by APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit, King C Bharati, Veteran journalist, Sanjay Koul, APMCC leader, Ashiq Hussain Dar, social activist, Jeevan Singh Jamwal, Jangu Singh Jamwal and Manoj Bhat, Gen Secy MKPC, protestors were raising slogans against State and Central Government for shielding people who have sold out the temple land in Kashmir to land mafia.
The demonstrators joined by local Muslims said that a trust looking after affairs of temple allegedly sold temple land in connivance with land mafia adding nobody would be allowed to damage Kashmiriyat and hundreds of years old heritage of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir. They recalled that during the Pathan rule Vaital Bhairav temple was safe but it was ironical under present coalition regime some vested interest elements are stalling the passage of Temple Bill in state assembly. Ashiq Hussain Dar who led the Muslim protestors also demanded immediate CBI probe into the whole affair saying govt is propagating hallow slogans of rehabilitation of Kashmiri pundits. It may be recalled that 2.9 Kanals of land housing the historic Vaital Bhairav temple at Rainawari has been leased out illegally by the Trust to a person ignoring the fact that it would hurt the religious sentiments of Kashmiri Pandits.
APMCC has been spearheading the movement to save Vaital Bhairav temple for which its Delhi Chapter organised a massive demonstration at Jantar Mantar on April 8 and other protests in Jammu and Kashmir till government acts.
