| Poonch people protest, block Budha Amarnath road | | Power woes! | | early times report
POONCH, Apr 9: Large number of people assembled at Chandak main Chowk today and blocked Poonch Budha Amarnath road for nearly two hours over alleged routine power failure. They protested against the District Administration and also raised slogans against forest department alleging that the only forest check post in Chandak has been turned into a gambling field and urinal point by the locals. They alleged that since last ten years, no staff has been posted here what to talk of supply of wood. Earlier, people blocked the vehicular movement for two hours demanding regular power supply. They alleged that in spite of two grid station in Chandak, PDD is regularly curtailing the power supply. They also raised slogans against local MLA Haveli for his inability to redress of their problems. SHO City Sanjeev Singh Salathia immediately rushed to the spot and started deliberations with protestors. Protestors were demanding presence of XEN PDD, Deputy Commissioner and SSP Poonch on the spot. Later on, after hectic talks with people, SHO Poonch managed to pacify the protestors and assured that their problems will be solved within next 24 hours. On the assurance of SHO Poonch, the traffic was opened by protestors for regular movement. |
