Over 100 fall ill after drinking contaminated water | | | early times report Anantnag, Apr 9: More than 110 children fell sick after consuming polluted water in Kokernag area of District Anantnag on Monday morning. They were provided immediate medical treatment after they began to vomit and suffered acute dysentery. Meanwhile health officials have taken samples of water, blood and sent them for examination. Primary reports suggest the contaminated water that was consumed by the people including more than 100 children of Chernad Kandiwara was that of a bore well. Two children from the area had fallen ill on Friday after drinking the impure water. Local's immediately passed the message to Block Medical Officer Kokernag "I along with a medical team from Kokernag visited the area were more than 100 children of local middle school Kandiwara Kokernag fell sick after consuming impure water, medical team is providing medical assistance and education to the children continusoley from last three days." said BMO Kokernag, adding that all children are now out of danger and are recovering. "We have taken up this issue of drinking water with PHE officials who later visited the area." BMO said adding that on our request they have sanctioned one water tanker vehicle for the area that started supplying of pure water to the area. Meanwhile, teams of IDPS and eptimology today visited the are and have taken samples of water and blood from the people of the particular area. |
