HC stays allotment of forest land, issues notice to CS, others | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 9: Staying the allotment of 22 kanals of forest land to a man, a high court division bench of Justices Mansoor Ahmed Mir and Muzaffar Hussain Attar today issued notice to the government through chief secretary, forest commissioner and principal chief conservator of forests. The notice was also issued to Rajinder Prasad Sharma, who had been alloted 22 kanals of forest land said to be the part of Bahu Game Reserve. The court directive came in a PIL filed by one Kuldeep Kumar Sharma against government order No 354-FST of July 3, 2006, who alleged that the land had been alloted in violation of forest laws and Supreme Court directions. He sought direction of prohibition, restraining the respondents from changing the nature of the forest land which was the part of Bahu Game Reserve. After hearing the two sides, the division bench issued notice to state through chief secretary, forest commissioner, principal chief conservator of forests and Rajinder Parsad returnable within four weeks. The judges directed that, in the meantime, the operation of order No 354-FST of July 3, 2006, was stayed till next date of hearing. They clarified that this order was subject to objections from the other sides. |
