Court frames corruption charges against ASI | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 9: Special judge anti-corruption Pawan Dev Kotwal today framed corruption charges against assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, Nayeem Hussain Shah who was caught red-handed by SVO on August 20 last year, while demanding and accepting Rs 6,000 from Mohammad Younus of Kanara Chak, Nowshera, in Rajouri. The charges were framed under section 5(1)(d) read with section 5(2) of PC Act, 2006, and section 161 of RPC. According to the case, a written complaint was lodged by Younus that he had a land dispute with his uncle Ghulam Hussain who had some time back filed a case against him and his brother at Nowshera police station. The case was investigated by ASI Shah. In his complaint, Younas alleged that the ASI had demanded and accepted Rs 4,000 as bribe from him a day before he was granted bail in the case. In the same case, his brother's father-in-law was also made accused. Rs 4,000 were paid to ASI by the complainant to favour all the three persons involved in the land dispute. However, the ASI again started harassing the complainant and asked him to attend police station on daily basis, besides demanding Rs 6,000 more from him on the pretext of weakening the case. Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid and the ASI was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 6,000 as bribe. |
