JAMMU, Apr 9: The land grabbing incident once again erupted in Samba district, but this time the land grabbing allegations were levelled against a high profile minister in coalition government who is believed to have proximity to the Abdullah family. The aggrieved family alleged that they were kept as hostages by police during the scheduled visit of Chief Minister to Samba.
The allegations were levelled by the aggrieved persons who were reportedly lifted by police just few moments before the arrival of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Samba district has become a 'sleep snatcher' for not only the minister but other high profile land grabbers also.
The incident took police in Tarkar area of district Samba when one Rano Devi and her six members of the family were lifted by police when they were on way to meet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to seek justice from him in the alleged land grabbing case. "They were taken as hostage at Bari Brahmana Police Station and later set free in the evening when the Chief Minister left the place after addressing a public gathering, they alleged.
Levelling allegations the aggrieved Rano Devi said that her mother Khakhri Devi sold a piece of land measuring 14 Kanal 18 marlas to three persons in 2003 who later established an industrial unit, but with the passage of time trio grabbed their 60 kanal of land adjoining to the sold land situated in Khasra no 17431099,17421099 and 18321099 at Birpur.
She further alleged that she lodged a complaint to the DC Samba who entrusted the inquiry to ADC Samba. Sensing no gain she lodged complaint to police, but here again no avail. Later she lodged a complaint to Chief Minister grievance cell.
Today the family set their mind to meet to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had official visit in Samba to get justice, but before CM's arrival she and her family members were lifted by police. When contacted to the minister on whom the allegations were levelled said that the family had internal dispute which forced police to lift them.
"The upset and aggrieved family members, now have decided to approach JK PCC president Professor Saif ud Din Soz to apprise him about their complaint for redressal", the aggrieved family members said.
