| Retd. Judicial officers demands implementation of “Shetty Commission” recommendation | | | JAMMU | JAN 25 A meeting of retired Judicial officers association was held here the other day in which the members shows their resentment regarding non-implementation of first Judicial pay commission i.e. Shetty commissions, recommendation in respect of pre-1996 Retd. Judicial officers. The meeting was told that the government has implemented major recommendations of the commission which favors only those officers who were in service on January 1996, but no justice has been done in case retired judicial officers. It was pointed out in the meeting that Shetty commission has recommended in Para no 200 of its summary of report that “The revised pension of past pensioners I.e. Pre-1996” retires should be 50% of the minimum pay of the post held at the time of retirement. It was further pointed out that the Supreme Court in its order dated November 23, 2006 on an application by pre 1996 Retired Judicial officers association has clarified that qualifying service for reckoning pension of pre-1996 retires is irreverent and it is 50% of the minimum pay of the post held at the time of retirement. It was resolved that Govt. be requested to implement Shetty commission recommendations regarding revision of pension of Pre-1996 retired judicial officers.
