Is Omar trying to project himself as national leader with role in Kashmir issue? | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 9: Chief minister Omar Abdullah, who other day appeared on a national news channel, to announce that Pakistan president owe him one rupee bet. Omar, who is nicknamed as puppet CM by Pakistanis wanted to project that he was friendly with the incumbent Pak president and that he had already predicted to him that he would not be able to visit Jammu and Kashmir whenever he gets chance to visit India. Though it hardly made any news for the national news channel but for the friendly relations with the anchors of the channel, Omar Abdullah, who occasionally make his appearance on the said channel to talk funny issues, made an absurd comment that Zardari owe bet money on Sunday evening when every other channel and panelists there on, were discussing serious issues of Indo-Pak relations in the back ground of the visit of Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari to India and his attendance at Ajmer Sharief Shrine. Important to mention is that Omar Abdullah along with other dozen of speakers went to Pakistan in 2006 to attend a seminar organized by some NGO. Incidentally Omar Abdullah, who was MP those days met various Pak leaders including the then Pakistan president Parvez Mushraff and the incumbent president Zardari besides other national leaders. Omar Abdullah, according to other participants in the seminar, apologized to Pakistani leaders for his grandfather late sheikh Mohammad Abdullah annexing Kashmir to India. The participants even said that he tried to garner support from various militant outfits for winning assembly elections back home in Kashmir in 2008. Omar Abdullah gave up bashing Pakistan ever since he lost assembly polls in Ganderbal constituency in 2002. The "young CM" is reported have a made a comment privately that pak bashing never helps any regional party to win elections at least in Kashmir. Omar Abdullah urgently needs focus on governance rather than talk about the Kashmir issue and Pakistan. Ironically father Farooq Abdullah nominated son Omar Abdullah as working president of the National Conference party Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while responding to his nomination as working president said that his father was busy as union minister. When the fact is reverse. Chief Minister of any state is more busy than union minister. Moreover, Farooq Abdullah, who is holding the portfolio of less importance called renewable energy, is always free to be seen at film parties in Mumbai and elsewhere to flirt with young actors of Bollywood. |
