UDC concerned over slow pace 'Devika cleanliness drive' | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Apr 10: Udhampur Development Council (UDC) an NGO has shown deep concern over the growing pollution in sacred river Davika and slow pace of so called 'cleanliness drive' launched by administration in view of Baisakhi festval . Team of UDC headed by its president Anil Paba and General Secretary Parvesh Parihar today visited Devika ghats to look sanitary condition of area ahead of Baisakhi festival. The volunteers of said NGO expressing serious concerns over shabby look of Devika Ghats and termed the tall claims of the concerned authorities as totally contrary and opposite as claimed by authorities regarding cleanliness drive launched at Devika Ghats. Parvesh Parihar General Secretary UDC said that only two bathing bowlis (ponds) have been partially cleaned while the portion in close vicinity of behind Old Age Home was left untouched and similar fate is seen the areas near cremation ground and adjoining areas. Anil paba President of the society showing concern over sacred river regretted why Intelligentsia, local politicians and people who claimed prominent citizen have ignored this important site with which sentiments of lakh of people are attached. Other prominent team members who visited the Devika Ghats included Rakesh Padha, Chander Khajuria,V ikrant Sharma, Govind Ram and Raghav Sharma. |
