JDU raises issues of famers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 10: Janta Dal United (JDU) raked up the issues of those farmers who grow trees for firewood and is livelihood of these farmers, here today. Addressing the media persons JDU state president Inder Mohinder Tar Singh said that it is unfortunate that farmers from Jammu too experiencing step mother treatment from respective government. He further said that these farmer grow trees on their private lands, when these tree grow up, they cut and sell firewood for livelihood. He maintained that for transportation of firewood from Jammu province requires Form -25 whereas same is not required in Kashmir province, which depicts clear step motherly treatment towards farmers of Jammu region. Singh also placed copies of judgement delivered by Court in July 2006, that the transportation of firewood does not required Form -25 and also copies of Government Order No 198FST of 2006 dated April 20, 2004 wherein government implemented the orders clearly mentions types of firewood does not require form -25. He regretted that farmers of Jammu province are still deprived of same and a have to pay exorbitant amount to obtain this form and forest check post too charge heavy amount to release the vehicles carrying firewood from Jammu enroute Kashmir are within Jammu province too. He urged upon chief minister Omar Abdulla to look into the matter and the corrupt practice in vogue by respective department should be taken care of immediately. |
