HC dissatisfied over Div Com's reply on land-grabbing by high profiles | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 10: A high court division bench of Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar today expressed dissatisfaction over the reply filed by divisional commissioner Pawan Kotwal about alleged land-grabbing by some politicians, police officers and bureaucrats. The court had directed the divisional commissioner on the last date of hearing to file a comprehensive affidavit in this regard. The directive had come in a PIL in which it was alleged that there existed a nexus between land mafia and some politicians, police officers and bureaucrats. Today when the PIL came for hearing, the division bench observed that the status report of divisional commissioner was not in accordance with its order. Expressing displeasure over the report, the judges directed that let fresh status report be filed by the divisional commissioner within 10 days and in default, he was to appear in person before the court on the next date of hearing which was fixed after 10 days. In his status report, it was submitted by the divisional commissioner that on the basis of factual reports submitted by deputy commissioner, Jammu, and additional deputy commissioner, Samba, no politician or a top police officer had encroached upon state land in the twin districts as per revenue records. The petitioner, in his PIL, had highlighted a case of grabbing of proprietory land of 342 kanals 4 marlas of two brothers -- Tilak Raj and Hem Raj -- at Chak Lalu Shah allegedly by the three daughters of PHE minister Taj Mohiudin. |
