Nostalgic migrants mend fences in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 10: It was a conference with a difference. The participants comprising representatives of migrant pandits and Muslims from Kashmir exchanged heated arguments, hugges each other, talked about the age-old harmony they have shared for centuries and agreed to respect each other's aspirations. The three day conference facilitated by the Centre of dialogue and reconciliation (CDR) adapted a joint statement urging the majority community in Kashmir to extend support for protection and preservation of all the temples and shrines and property attached there to. The conference also agreed to refrain from launching hate campaign against each other. And last but not the least the participants agreed not to blame each other for what happened in early 1990. The migrants turned nostalgic when some of them called on their residents relatives in Srinagar. "I went to see my aunt who resides at Karan Nagar. When I came back, I recalled the days when I used to go to my home at Habba Kadal after visiting my aunt", said a migrant with tears in her eyes. The participants while thanking CDR for facilitating the dialogue hoped prayed for early, dignified and honourable return of the migrants. |
