JAMMU, Apr 11: Ronnel Singh emerges as singles champion while the doubles trophy went to the pair of Ronnel and Stanley Mathews as Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) made a clean sweep in the Inter-CPSU Table Tennis Tournament which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. In the singles final, Ronnel defeated his teammate Stanley Mathews 4-2 (09-11, 11-02,08-11, 11-07, 11-06) in best of seven final thereby making it a thrilling contest. Pairing together, Ronnel and Stanley together defeated J Mukherjee and RS Bisht, again of POWERGRID to secure the doubles trophy. Earlier, the POWERGRID team lifted the team championship trophy yesterday.
In the finals and valedictory function, Principal Secretary, PDD J&K Government, Sudhanshu Pandey was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
In his address to the gathering, Sudhanshu Pandey comp-limented POWERGRID for efficiently conducting the tournament. He urged upon PSUs and other Government departments to encourage sports and to restore the glory of sports in India.
Prominent among those present were Executive Director NRTS-II, SC Singh; Executive Director NHPC, OP Thakur, incharge Secretary State Sports Council, Kiran Wattal, GM(O&M), Jag-mohan Sharma, GM (Projects) SK Sharma, AGM (ES), AK Srivastava , AGM (C&M), SD Joshi, DGM (F), Pramod Kumar and Chief Manager (HR), Stanley Mathews.
In his concluding remarks, SC Singh congratulated the winners and encouraged other players to perform better in future to attain success. Vote of thanks was presented by Chief Manager (HR), Stanley Mathews.

Stanley Mathews of POWER-GRID beat J. Mukharjee of POWERGRID 4-3 (11-9, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9). Hardliner: J. Mukharjee of POWERGRID beat Sandeep Pathak of BBMB 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 11-5).
Doubles: Semifinals: R S Bist and J. Mukharjee of POWER-GRID beat Naresh Chibbar and Manmohan Singh of CEA 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 11-6) while the pair of S. Mathew and Ronel Singh of POWERGRID beat Ashu-tosh and Lok-esh of NHPC 3-2 (11-9, 13-15, 11-3, 8-11, 11-6). Hardliner: Naresh Chibbar and Manmohan of CEA beat Ashutosh and Lovekesh of NHPC 3-2 (11-5, 10-12, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9).
