Army honours veteran in public meeting at Garan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Apr 11 : In a rare show of expressing its gratitude towards Army, Garan Panchayat today welcomed Commander Budhal Sector in a public meeting. The villagers expressed their gratitude towards Army and lauded the efforts of RR Battalion at Kalakote for bringing peace and normalcy to the area. Army on its part reiterating its commitment to "AMAN KI ORE, AWAM KE SAATH" helped the senior most citizen of the Panchayat and ex Sarpanch for 44 years Mr Jwala Singh aged 92 years with a hearing aid. Jwala Singh is known for his efforts in assisting the security forces for maintaining peace & tranquility in the region including the wars in 1965 and 1971. Due to old age he had been facing hearing problems since a few years. He did not have the means to get himself checked up and get a hearing aid. This came to the notice of the Sector. Commander during one of his recent visits to Garan. The RR Battalion at Kalakote immediately got him checked up in the Military Hospital at Rajouri and got him a hearing aid manufactured in Denmark. Speaking on the occasion Mr Jwala Singh was overwhelmed with the gesture of the Army and fell into tears. He said that after all his efforts were recognized and he was grateful to the Doctor of Rajouri Army Hospital who treated him and the Sector Commander who himself came to hand over the hearing aid to him. Dr Shahid Iqbal, SDM Naoshera and Mr GL Sharma, SDPO Naoshera also graced the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Sarpanch Mohamad Ishaq and other villagers also expressed their gratitude to the Sector Commander as well as Military hospital Rajouri for the assistance towards a noble cause. The SDM and SDPO held a public durbar and heard the grievances of the people. They assured that the grievances will be resolved as soon as possible.
