| Padamashree' Verma accorded warm welcome | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 11: Social activist SP Verma was accorded a warm welcome by the people from all sections today at Jammu Airport on his return from Delhi after being honoured by a prestigious 'Padamashree' award on April 4 at Ashoka Hall, New Delhi. A large number of supporters and activists of Global Gandhi Family already have assembled outside the Airport. Amidst sloganeering in favour of their leader the supporters garlanded him and also presented bouquets on the occasion.Thereafter they led him in a shape of procession and enroute to city other supporters and traders garlanded Padamshree Verma and showered flower petals upon him.
While addressing the media persons, Verma said that receiving the Padamashee award was an honour for the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir and lavished praise for those who recognized his services and recommended him for the same. He also made mention of the veteran actor and Union Sports Minster Sunil Dutt for inspiring him (Verma) for taking up the cause of the people and carrying forward the mission of non violence as started by the Father of Nation further being carried out by Global Gandhi Family. He also lauded the role of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for being an ideal for working for a mission i.e. for the people from down trodden community.
It is pertinent to mention here that SP Verma is the youngest recipient of this award in Indian history and only the second from Jammu and Kashmir to be conferred with this award. Verma now has become a role model for the younger generation and an inspiration for that section of the society which works for the social cause. |
