early times report
Srinagar, Apr 11 : Coming down heavily on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party for dividing people on regional and religious lines, the National Conference spokesman Tanvir Sadiq on Wednesday said that National Conference - Congress alliance has ushered an era of peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued to media, Tanvir said that the opposition was frustrated with the achievements of the coalition government and with no issues left the opposition was resorting to divisive politics. The NC spokesman said that his party will never allow PDP to succeed in its nefarious designs.
"The people of Jammu and Kashmir are very well aware of the agenda of the PDP. They (PDP) speak one language in New Delhi and another in Jammu and Kashmir. They're power hungry and divide people in the name of region and religion. In 2008, they set Kashmir on fire," Tanvir said.
Urging people to strengthen the Omar Abdullah led government, the NC spokesman cautioned people to remain vigilant of the divisive politics of the opposition. He said that government is committed for the overall development of all the three regions of the state.
Taking a dig at the opposition, the NC spokesman said that during their regime, the PDP ignored the Srinagar city and turned it into a slum. He added that the educated unemployed youth of Srinagar were meted with step-motherly treatment in the recruitment processes during the dark rule of the opposition party.
"Our government under the dynamic leadership of the Honorable Chief Minister will leave no stone unturned in bringing a positive change in the state and Srinagar city being the capital and tourist hub will be developed as a metropolitan city," he said.
He said the government has also taken a series of initiatives to address the issue of unemployment. He termed the recently launched Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth, as a major step in this direction.
"NC-Congress coalition government has ushered an era of peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. We strive for the equitable development of the state," he said.
Meanwhile, Tanvir Sadiq has expressed shock over the untimely death of a scribe working with the Hindi daily Ashok Razdan working with Amar Ujala. He extended heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family.
