6 JDA officials injured in clash | | | early times reprot Jammu, Apr 11: At least six officials of Jammu Development Authority got injured, two of them critically, in a clash with Gujjars in Phalian Mandal area in city outskirts, police sources here said. "Six JDA officials including the Junior Engineer and Superintendent Engineer (SE) JDA were seriously injured this afternoon when they were allegedly attacked by a group of gujjars in Phalian Mandal area," police sources said. They said the JDA team led by the Vice Chairperson had gone to vacate about 271 encroached land in village Chak Artar Singh of Phalian Mandal area. "It was a disputed land and larger portion of it belongs to the JDA, which is allegedly encroached by the Gujjars and the locals," the sources said.
They added the JDA team without informing the police visited the site to vacate the land following which the Gujjars pelted stones and attacked them. "At least six persons sustained injuries and their vehicles were also damaged in the clash," police sources said, adding, "the injured identified as SE Tilak Raj and a JE were immediately shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital". Earlier also, police has arrested one sub-inspector for opening fire over the disputed land issue. A case has been registered and investigations are in progress
