| Villagers demanding 'backward area status' stage protest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 11: Reitera-ting their demand for the inclusion of villages of Panchyats of Mohargarh and Deon in the list of Backward Areas, the residents of two panchayats under the banner of Backward Area Action Committee (BAAC) held a protest rally here today.
The protestors started their protest from Vikram Chowk which culminated at the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu where they submitted a memorandum to the Div.Com as well as sent a copy of it to the Chief Minister.
The Panchavat of Mahorgarh includes villages such as Taler, Padal, Rajool, Kummi, Moahorgarh, Kather, Chilia Danga, Gujjnaal, Paadal, while the Panchayat of Dean includes villages Kund, Gurgani, Pacholli, Chai, Khodikhad, Deon, Fadyali, and Dagade .
Addressing the protestors, Retd Sub Chatter Singh, Convenor of Backward Area Action Committee (BAAC) said that the residents of these panchayats have been struggling for the last 10 years for their villages to be included in the list of Backward Areas as there is no connectivity, no permanent drinking facility, no dispensary etc, but till date these problems haven't been addressed by the state government leaving them in deep troubles.
On this occasion they raised their demands have been struggling for last 10 years to include our Panchayats in the list of backward areas. |
